New Deliverable: An Ethical Review of Algorithms

Posted on January 4, 2021 by admin

We’re excited to announce the finalization of a significant deliverable. You can find it on our deliverables page http://hecat.eu/deliverables/ or download it through this link.

The document itself is quite long and we will be writing several blog posts in the near future about it. It has three major discussion sections:

  1. A review of the typical profiling systems
  2. Country reports where such profiling systems have been applied in practice
  3. Ethical issues as they relate to algorithm design

In this report we get into the complex history of algorithms, as this has a significant impact on how they are used. A unique aspect of our report is its exploration of the theology inherent in algorithms, as they are often seen as a godlike solution to human made problems.

Watch this space for more detailed discussion in the coming weeks!
